4/84-2/2016 ExxonMobil Chemicals Americas, Process Technician, Baytown,Texas
Being a PTS was an outside job working 12 hour shifts, 4 days on, 4 days off. I was required to climb 10+ stories of towers via ladders and or steps I had to make sure the pumps, compressors and furnaces were operating properly and fill out paperwork on all equipment on the portion of the Units I was assigned to. We worked several various Units. I had startup and shutdown and clear equipment as required for shutdowns turnarounds. I caught samples of fluids as required. I performed Cooling Tower water tests, Worked on the Safety Team, worked on several Special Assignments, traveled to Toronto Ontario Canada for training and to the Houstonian in Houston for Diversity Training. I checked all the Safety equipment on the unit I was assigned to.
I loved my job but when I turned 65 ExxonMobil requires you to retire. I have the energy of a 30 year old and am always busy doing things.
My last 15 years I was on long term disability because of a rotator cuff injury on the job. Because of my job assignment they would not assign me to the Lab or anywhere else. I am in what I would consider great health. I have a lot of stamina and can work great with anyone.
